MISS OKLAHOMA
TAYLOR TREAT, 2009
I have been designing gowns and dance costumes for Taylor since her very first local pageant. The evening gown we created for her Miss America journey was constructed in navy stretch lace over a turquoise knit lining. The entire body was adorned with over 17,000 individually hand placed Bermuda blue Swarovski crystals. The intricate navy and turquoise straps were woven together and separated in the back and were finished in solid Bermuda and aquamarine crystals. Taylor placed Top 12 at Miss America.
EMOLY WEST, 2010
I designed this cocktail dress for Emoly to wear during the Top 5 question portion of the Miss America telecast. I wanted the long sleeved black stretch lace mini to accentuate her flawless physique and show a classic look with a modern twist. The body of the dress was lined with a nude knit while the sleeves were unlined. The elegant low back offers a beautiful surprise element. All of the edges were finished with the scalloped edge of the lace and jet hematite Swarovski crystals were scattered over the entire dress. Emoly placed 4th Runner up at Miss America
BETTY THOMPSON, 2011
I have had the pleasure to work with Betty Thompson and design her evening gown and talent costumes for the past few years as she pursued her dreams of being Miss Oklahoma. I wanted a very bold, strong color for her as well as a silhouette that would maximize the height of her petite frame. I chose the vivid royal blue silk chiffon and solid crystals with an asymmetrical one shoulder to achieve the look we wanted. The one sleeve with silk flower on the shoulder also added a beautiful, yet unique design detail.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDERGIRLS, 2011
I worked very closely with the manager of the OKC Thunder Girls on the design of their new costumes. I wanted the costumes to be very classy, sexy and striking all at the same time. I drew inspiration from the state flag of Oklahoma as well as the iconic Dallas Cowgirls uniforms. We created two tops and matching shorts and belts for the girls. Every piece was accented with Swarovski crystals because I wanted OKC to sparkle at all of the NBA games across the nation.
MISS USA
TARA CONNOR, 2006
I first met Tara while competing on Project Runway Season 3, but had seen her crowned Miss USA a few months earlier on television. I had only a few hundred dollars and two days to design and make an evening gown for her for Miss Universe as part of the criteria for the “Fit for a Queen” challenge. I was immediately struck by her beauty and wanted a design that didn’t take away from her face. Tara stated she was the second shortest Miss USA in the history of the pageant and wanted something to make her look taller. She had also mentioned possibly earth tones as a color palette. I chose a purple/gold iridescent silk organza lined with a chocolate silk charmeuse lining which I felt would give a modern red carpet feel to the gown while understanding this design was still for an international pageant. I adorned the neckline with a gold Chantilly beaded lace. I won the challenge and Tara placed 4th Runner up at Miss Universe in the gown.
